Project Organized Home-Sink Remodel

Well, we had to tear out the old cabinet in the bathroom because the sink had leaked so much that the bottom of the cabinet was rotting out, and we can't have that with my son's allergies. Not to mention, it was looking not so great! So, we decided that instead of replacing the cabinet, we would get a pedestal sink. That would give us less chance in the future of having mold grow around the sink. They are really affordable too. The only problem, was that our bathroom has ceramic tile for the floor, and there wasn't any under the cabinet. So, hubby and I did our first tile project! They didn't sell our tile anymore, of course, so I picked out tiles that I thought looked nice and would still go with the rest of the bathroom. We still need to get new baseboards up, but you get the idea! I also just happened to have bought miss-tinted paint two weeks ago, that almost identically matches the wall color in here! So, I was able to paint the wall behind where the cabinet was for free! How nice to not have to paint the whole room a different color!

I love the tiles, and it kind of looks like a tile rug under the sink instead of a carpeted one! When we get the money (if we ever do) I want to put matching glass tiles around the outside edge of the mirror. I also need to get a towel rack and toothbrush holder up on the wall. I'm very happy with it though. It's taking me a while to get used to not having a cabinet there, but it will be very healthy for my son!

  1. Those tiles are really pretty! I especially like the combination of sizes you used. As long as the grout is the same color throughout the bathroom, it'll look like a custom tile job. As a matter of fact, if you have leftover grout, you can grout over the existing tile to give it a just laid look, and no one will know those are the originals! You guys did great for your first tile job. Nice and even. I give it two thumbs up!

  2. I know it looks like the grout is a different color in one of the pictures, but it's not. The grout that's not new is just dirty in places. They didn't use a grout sealer on our floors, so I have to constantly clean it with those bleach pens. We actually matched the grout quite well!
