Thankful Thursday

Today I have a very, very special post for you. Today I am especially thankful for my God, and my Husband. You know why? Because they fixed my van! It may only run for a day, it may run for a year, but it's running! We made it to Sonic Tuesday night for free ice cream cones and it made it to church last night. We visited a friends church last night, and it was even farther than our church is, so I was pretty nervous. But it made it, and I'm so excited, and so happy. I'm thankful for my husbands working hands. Every callus, every splinter, every stain on his hands, reminds me of the physical labor that he does every day just for us. And this time his hands, along with his brains, and a GREAT GOD, got our only vehicle running again. Now we have to decide if we sell it, or keep it. I love the van and want to keep it at least until we pay it off, but there's just no telling how long this will last. We will need to do a full rebuild of the motor soon if we do keep it, and that will cost more money. Plus more labor for my dear hubby. Right now, we will just enjoy being able to go places as a family, and he is grateful to not be doing the grocery shopping anymore!

  1. Yay! I am so happy for you! I know how you are feeling right now. My husband has had to learn how to fix our cars too, and when he does, it's just the best feeling for both of us.

I admire your thankful attitude!!!! And... free ice cream??!?? Yum! :)

  2. It sure saves A LOT of money to work on vehicles yourself. I am so incredibly thankful for hubby's mechanical abilities. With our luck in vehicles, it has really been a lifesaver!

Doesn't free ice cream always taste the best?! I wouldn't know how good the ice cream tasted however...I was being a good girl, and didn't have any. They all were just as happy as can be, and my hubby paid for a Reeces Blast for himself, and at the time I was kind of jelous. However, I lost three pounds in the last few days, so I'm not jelous anymore!

  3. That's great news! You don't realize how badly a vehicle is needed till you don't have one, and you don't realize how much of a blessing a mechanically inclined husband can be till something breaks! It's so important to teach our young boys to be handy. My oldest son never enjoyed having to learn to fix things, but now that he's older he's starting to appreciate not needing to pay someone his hard earned money to fix something or put something together that he can do himself. Yes, young boys would rather be playing and having fun, but they will be thankful in the future for parents who taught them to be independent.
