Weight Loss Wednesday

Well, this week isn't really a weight loss Wednesday, it's a weight gain Wednesday. I gained almost 2 pounds this week. Although, I'm not surprised, and I'm not upset. I've been so busy painting these rooms, moving furniture, putting in new flooring. We've been eating a lot of prepackaged foods instead of me making healthy meals. I should have disciplined myself and managed my time better. I could have thawed out things and used the crockpot, but I didn't. Staying up until 3:30 in the morning, and past 1:00 most other nights, doesn't sit well with the body either. So, I need to get these rooms done and get back on track. I'm not upset though, I know it will come right back off.

I got a phone call Monday letting me know that I won a free one month membership to Anytime Fitness, so I'm excited about that! I just hope we can somehow afford to renew it after the month is over. I don't know how much I'll be able to do right away because of my back, but I can walk on the treadmills, ride the bikes, and do lots of strength training exercises that don't call on my lower back muscles! So, I'm really, really, excited about it. I'm working on a schedule that won't interfere with my job here as a mommy, teacher, wife & homemaker. I don't want my family to suffer for my wanting to be at the gym. I am really looking forward to it though. The last time I had a gym membership here in town, I lost 31 pounds and was still losing when I had to cancel the membership due to finances. So, I hope to have better news to report next week!

  1. Healthy eating is a learning process, I've discovered. There will be moments when you realize, I need to change this or that if I'm gonna be healthy. I compare the foods I make at home with the foods purchased at restaurants, and I can clearly see that eating out has to be well planned and done occasionally if eating right is my goal. Planning a weekly menu has worked well for me; I have a shopping list which helps me save money at the grocery store, and we eat better because I control what we eat and what's in what we eat. I'm glad you're not discouraged. Keep focused on the prize, which is a healthier you. Hope you enjoy your gym membership!

  2. I have a bad back too. Try the elliptical machine. You can up the intensity and speed all you want and it's still non-impact. Best of luck with the weight loss though. I'm still trying to lose the last 8-10 pounds of my pregnancy weight. I'm 29, so it's jut not coming off as easily as it used to.

  4. Unfortunately, the elliptical is horrible for my back. We used to have a really nice one here at home, but it put my back out faster than anything else. I think it's because you really have to use your core muscles on the elliptical. It's low impact for everything else, but not the lower back. We finally sold it, since I couldn't use it and it was just taking up valuable space. It was a bummer, because before I injured my back, the elliptical was my favorite piece of exercise equipment.

  6. How awsome to win a month membership! We could not afford a membership to a gym. So we broke down and bought a Wii. I didn't want a "video game" in the house, but we use it strickly to work out. We also used it during the winter for the kids gym class. I can so relate to your week. We are living with my parents while our bathroom is being remodeled, so it has been a challenge cooking here. But I've still done well. I had a 3.6 pound loss this week.

Just keep up the good work. Small baby steps. When you have a bad week just pick yourself up and dust off and keep going.

Since breaking my back in 2008 it is difficult for me to do many workout machines...that is yet another reason the Wii has worked well for us. Keep it up!!

Thank you for the comments you left on my blog. Blessings!!

  7. Wow. You must have a different type of back problem than I do. When my back was at its worst, the elliptical was the only thing that I could do. Oh well. I'm sure the gym will have LOTS of other machines that will work for you instead.
