Unfortunate End...

As you can see, all of my posts have been deleted. A blog that I follow, had pictures stolen from someone, and that person posted those pictures posing them as their own. I'm just not willing to take the risk anymore. It's sad that these sick things happen, and that they have to ruin it for those who truly enjoy blogging and sharing their lives. I may or may not continue to have this blog...if I do, it will certainly not have family photos and will change quite drastically.

  1. Boo and Hiss on the thief! Is there any way to secure your pictures and posts so they can't be stolen?

  2. That happens very easily with all the pictures on google images. I try not to use my kids names or expression words in tags so that won't happen with our pictures. Many people pull pictures from google images for thier blog unless they say they are copyrighted (which many are not) so this person may have done that unintentionally. I have blogged for 5 years off and on and have never had a problem with my kids pics being anywhere else. Still, if it keeps you up at night it's not worth it. That would be strange if they were posting them as if they were their children. I've never seen that happen.

  4. This was not an accident, this was done very intentionally, and they were not just regular photos. Someone stole their family photos and tried to pass them off as their own family. At the same time, another person I know had pictures taken off of her blog as well.

My fear isn't so much someone trying to impersonate my family, but just printing of my childrens pictures and using them for who knows what. Unfortunately, my uncle who is a cop says that pictures of children are taken off of blogger and facebook, etc. all the time by sexual predators and are used for things that I won't mention. I love sharing our lives with friends I have met on blogger, but I'm done sharing them with the world. I have a private family blog that I post our pictures on, and I have opened it up to my close blogging friends. This blog will now just be used for regular posts such as Weight Loss Wednesday, etc.

  5. You have to wonder about a person who would steal pictures to pass on as their own family. That's just sad.

I'm glad you'll still blog, even if there aren't any pics. I've enjoyed reading and sharing with you! I think I'll be more cautious with pictures from now on too.

  6. that is so strange...what blog was doing that? Has anyone called them on it?

  7. She has contacted Blogger about it, and has asked that I don't state her blog, or the offenders blog. Blogger doesn't want any more attention to the offender than what has already come about until they decide what is to be done about it.

  8. wow, i guess my curiosity is on how you find if someone has done this. how did she figure out that it had happened? was it by accident? i'm sorry if i'm asking too many questions. just makes you wonder.

  9. Someone she knew had found it, and let her know. They were just searching through different blogs, and came across it. I believe it was God's intervention to bring the action to light for her. It's really upseting that there are people like that out there. I wish blogger had a freeze feature where you can't take anything off the page, but hackers could break through that too I'm sure. There's people out there, that all they do all day is mess with other people. That's where all these computer viruses come from too.

I was nervous anyhow. I put a tracker on my blog once, to see if enough people read it to make it worth all the time I was putting into it, and I had hundreds of views in two weeks time from all over the world. All these people were viewing my precious children. I had some weird people leave me comments too, trying to get me to look at their blogs (which had very inapropriate content), and that kind of scared me. I've met lots of great people from Blogging, and I hate to not leave it open to everyone...you never know who else you will meet. That's why I've decided to leave this one open and do some regular posts on it, but have my family blog private. That way if I do meet more great people, and I want to share my family with them, I can just give them access to the picture blog.

  10. This is just scary and disturbing. I have gone back and forth on how much I share about my kids and life lately. I may have to revisit this and be more careful. I am new to blogging, but I have made a really good new friend. It makes me excited to meet more people, but the cautious part of me questions how much I share.

    Thanks for sharing this..

  11. Thank you Shirley! I love meeting great people on here too, I've only been blogging for several months, and I have made some great friends! That's why I've chosen to do two blogs. One for meeting people and sharing a little bit,(public) and the other for sharing my family and photos!(private)

I know it will be more to keep up with, but it makes me feel like I'm doing what I need to do, to keep my family safe. I would be sad if everyone had to keep their blogs private, because how would we ever meet anyone? But it's a personal decision that each individual has to make.
