Simple Woman's Daybook~10/5/10

For Today~ October 5th, 2010
Outside my window~it's cool! It's finally cool outside. I'm so happy. I had to grab my sweater to sit on the porch with my coffee and bible. I love that....I've missed that throughout this long, hot summer!
On my mind~ my appointment with the Mercy Clinic administration today. I'm praying, really praying that we will meet their income guidelines. I am more than ready to see a doctor for the first official time in over 3 years. I want this diagnosis, but may the Lord's will be done!
I am wearing~ my favorite pj's that pass off for clothes. Black with tiny white polka dots. The top has a wide strip of white lace at the bottom, and the straps are white lace with black ribbon strung through them. So cute!
I am going~ to the clinic late this afternoon. I'm also picking up the new Karate Kyd movie from Redbox. We're excited, we've been waiting a long time to rent it for $1! Sure beats theatre prices doesn't it?!
From the learning rooms~ we are doing great with the new curriculum! It's a controversial curriculum, but I think it's absolutely awesome and I feel like it was made just for us! It's a lot more work, but we are loving it, and finding ways to still get everything else done!
I am creating~ a spectacular creation for my friends baby shower, and I can't wait to show you pictures after the shower is over!
I am reading~ just my bible right now. I'm fixin to start reading Dave Ramsey's books though.
From the kitchen~ menu plans again. I need to make them to stay on budget with the groceries, and remember what's in the cabinets and deep freeze! Sometimes I buy stuff for meals, and forget it's there, so I buy more groceries when I don't need to.
Around the house~ cartoons, schoolwork, washer & dryer going. Typical day!
A few plans for the rest of the week~ cleaning, cleaning, cleaning, and organizing! I feel like it's a lifelong process that will never truly be complete. As long as we're headed in the right direction, I guess that's what counts. I really need to finish painting the hallway too. I stopped half way up the stairs because I don't know how I'm going to reach. We need to find a solution and finish! Hubby says I'm the Queen of half finished projects...sad but true. There is just so much going on and so much to do!
From my picture journal~
A glimpse of our day Saturday at the free "Faith Fest!" Our local Methodist Church does everything they can to make as much of it free to the public as possible. I'm so thankful for that! The kids had an absolute blast, and I needed the day away from the house, and all the responibilities and stress. These bounce houses were HUGE and it was so fun to watch the kids play all day!

The Simple Woman's Daybook

For Today...June 22nd, 2010
Outside my window~ the heat is beginning to build up. Summers here are so hot and humid. That's great for hubby's business...not so great for me and outdoor time. I have to water plants early in the morning, or late at night. All shopping really needs to be done before 11:00am even earlier if possible. Kansas was the same way though. I miss Colorado ever summer!
I am thinking~ of how I'm ready to be well again. The bad colds really knock me out, day and night.
From the learning rooms~ just summer state history and reading!
I am going~ to make some calls on our broken washer, and maybe to the used appliance store if necessary...otherwise I'm not going anywhere because of the reason stated above!
I am currently reading~ Disciplines of a Godly Woman.
I'm looking forward to~ our trip in August that is still lingering in the balance.
From the kitchen~ooo, that reminds me, I need to grab some chicken out of the deep freeze. We're having chicken fajitas tonight!
I am thankful for~ this weight coming off of me. I feel so much better already!
I am hoping~ that the Lord will provide us with a way to fix or replace our washer without taking money saved for our trip. I can't believe this, my washer is only 2 years old. Maybe it's just too small to keep up with the demand I put on it!
I am wearing~ not much...I just weighed myself and needless to say, I don't like to be wearing 2 pounds of clothes when I do! I had better get dressed before the kids come downstairs.
I am praying~ for a washer, a good doctor appointment for Mr. Pure at Heart on Thursday, several friends, and a whole lot more!
Around the house~ well, certainly not laundry today. I got a lot done yesterday, and I hope to get the bathrooms cleaned today and pick up my bedroom a bit. Maybe pull out some more garage sale stuff.

Looking forward to~ our trip in August, if the Lord allows! Still not sure if it will be Kansas and Colorado, or just Kansas.

I'm already wanting another trip to the Georgia Aquarium!

Simple Woman's Daybook~5/17/10

On my mind~ a dear friend of mine who just lost her mother. Unimaginable. If you get the chance, say a prayer for her...her name is Gina.
From the learning rooms~ we are taking a break this week, so we can finish moving all the kid's rooms around. So, that will delay our finish for the year, but I'm okay with that. After our break this week, we will have only two weeks left!
I am currently reading~ Finishing up Created to be His Helpmeet.
From the kitchen~ something with chicken today I think. If I had thought to thaw it out last night, I would have stuck some in the crockpot this morning with rice. But, it will probably be BBQ chicken in the skillet tonight. One of my favorites!
I am wearing~ my favorite jammies. They are a capri pant and tank top set...black with little white polka dots. They could almost pass as daytime clothes, but not quite!

Simple Woman's Daybook~May 11th Edition

For Today....May 11, 2010
Outside my window~ the grass needs cut, but hubby is a busy man right now. If I wasn't allergic, I would gladly do it for him. My unknown tree in the middle of the front yard is blooming now, and it's just beautiful. One day I hope to find out what kind of tree it is!
I am thinking~ about how in the world I'm going to lose this weight when my back won't allow me to exercise. I'm just going to have to be really, really careful about what I eat, and walk every chance I get!
I am thankful for~God's patience with me. If He had my patience, He would of given up on me decades ago. I feel like I have learned so much, but know that I've only barely begun to tap into the knowledge and Wisdom He has to offer me. I have an entire lifetime of learning to go still! I'm also thankful for the wonderful Authors He has placed out there, and the wisdom He has given to them to share with me and others. I have grown so much through their books, with the Holy Spirits help. I'm oh so thankful!
I am wearing~a light pink tank top and black capri sweatpants. After I finish this, and read my bible, I will get dressed for the day.
I am going~to possibly have to make a trip to Walmart. I don't like going there, and I try to wait until church days, so I don't waste gas and can do it all in one trip, but that may not work this time.
I am currently reading~Created to be His Helpmeet by Debi Pearl. I think this is the BEST book I have ever read. To be honest, I don't want to be finished with it. That's why I am pacing myself. It has helped me beyond words, and I want to still read more every day. In fact, I may come back and reread it a little bit at a time for years, just to keep it fresh in my mind. I have found my life's purpose in this book!
I am hoping~to go to Kansas and Colorado in August. We are really praying, and really trying to go. How wonderful it would be to see both our families in one big trip! Mike's mom is not well AT ALL and he is going to go see her whether we can all go or not. I'm really hoping it will be all of us! On my side of the family, this may be the last time that the whole extended family can be there together. They are having an 80th birthday party for my Grandma and they want all the kids, grandkids and great-grandkids to be there. I pray the Lord would allow us to be there. Some of you remember that they tried to do it at Christmas, and I was the only one not there... it broke my heart.
On my mind~ My 6 year old son has not been helped by his recent trip to the allergy specialist. He changed his meds, and it did him no good at all. He still coughs all day long and his eyes were so irritated that he got allergy conjunctivitis in both his eyes. Thankfully it went away in just a couple days without medicine, but still. My heart aches for him. I can't stand not being able to make him better. I am praying that the Lord would show us what to do. A different specialist, or wisdom for his current one, to do and find the right help for my dear, sweet son.
Noticing that~it takes me a LONG TIME to do this post every week. I hope I can keep it up.
From the learning rooms~3 weeks to go! It's not that I want to be done, I'm just excited for next years curriculum! I'm sure that when they're all older, I'll be happy and exceedingly ready for summer break. But as for now, I love teaching and don't want a break! Plus, my boys get in trouble when they don't have something constructive to do! Good thing I have reading planned for the summer!
From the kitchen~Nothing exciting. Our budget is so tight as we try to save for the trip, I'm not really getting creative in the kitchen. Simple filling meals, is what we're after!
Around the house~Lots to do. I have to finish my list from yesterday. I had several interruptions in the day yesterday, and I just sat and enjoyed hubby last night. So, I'll be working on that list today! The kids are currently cleaning the dining and living room. Well, except Miss. Piggy. I hear her in the bathroom, probably soaking her hair in the sink!

The Simple Woman's Daybook

Outside my window~GREEN! It's beautiful! The leaves are back on almost all of the trees, and the beautiful green color that Georgia is known for, is finally back! I moved my computer to a desk in my bedroom, and literally all I see out my front window, is green trees of all sizes and shapes, green grass, sunshine and birds! How glorious!
I am thinking~that I really need to finish painting the front deck now that the wasps and pollen have settled down a bit!....I can see part of it out my window too...needs to be finished!
I am thankful for~God's beauty outside, and wonderful Christ honoring music that can lift up my spirits and make for a great day, even when I wake up grumpy.
I am wearing~a nightgown still. Does that surprise you? I'm working on some daytime clothes, I really am.
I am going~absolutely nowhere today! I am going to enjoy Home Sweet Home today. No piano lessons for two weeks, no doctors appointments, no plans....except to enjoy our home, get caught up on schoolwork and housework!
I am currently reading~my spare time is limited to Bible reading, and learning more about the supplements I am selling, and using.
I am hoping~to get a lot of laundry done today...hubby really wants it all caught up.
On my mind~I think I may have a cavity that is going to be a hole in my tooth if not taken care of. We still don't have insurance, and can't afford a filling without it...so the tooth may just have to be pulled out one day. I'm trying to leave it all in the Lord's hands, and not fret. I just keep thinking about it, because I've had a hole in my other back tooth before, and it got infected and caused me GREAT PAIN. I just don't want to go through that again.
Noticing that~what we did in the front yard this past weekend really made a difference. I'm still shocked every time I step out the door or pull up in the driveway! A nice shock!
From the learning rooms~getting started again this week, after a long spring break. Only 6 more weeks to go to finish the school year!
From the kitchen~nothing exciting. Just some BBQ chicken today, and some cornbread...wait...that is kind of exciting!
Around the house~so much to do. Laundry, moping, dusting, sorting. One step at a time!

The Simple Woman's Daybook~3/8/10

I couldn't wait! I had to give you a looksy. It's not the best picture, and I haven't cleaned up everything in the background, but you get the idea. I got them at a great price, and it's just what I wanted for this kitchen! I couldn't have found anything closer to what I had envisioned in my head. And it looks just like I thought it would in the room! I got them for a steal even though they are brand new. I felt guilty buying them when our van is broke down, but we've budgeted money for the van next month, and I've been saving a long time for these...it took me two years to save up $200. I was afraid that if I didn't spend that money on what I saved it for, it would hinder me from trying so hard to save in the future. So I am LOVING this table and stools, and that's what I'm typing on right now! I can see the kids playing in the backyard, and I can see my hubby working on the shed, when he's out there. It's such a blessing!
