Well, I don't have good news to report this week. I gained one pound. I'm not surprised at all, so I'm not to upset about it. We had a lot of running around last week and we ate out for a few meals. What we did eat at home, wasn't very healthy...it was just quick and easy. It shows how unprepared I am for interruptions in my schedule. I am fixing that right now!
We bought a small deep freezer and I'm going to have it stocked with frozen vegetables and turkey burgers that can be cooked easily from frozen. This will also give me room in my regular freezer for my frozen onions, celery, broth, and other things that I need for cooking healthy meals from scratch. I'm so excited and thankful that we were able to get the small freezer. We got a great deal on it too, only $154 for a 5 cf GE freezer. One year warranty. I'll have to get a picture up on here for you of the new microwave we bought with the freezer. It's just beautiful! For the first time ever, I have all matching appliances, and they are all stainless steel! God is so good to us. He blesses us so much more than we could ever deserve! Now, I just need to use these material blessings to help myself and my family to eat much healthier this year!
I hope to have better news to report next week. It's amazing the impact on our bodies that food makes. I felt slow and sluggish all week. I couldn't think as clearly and my stomach wasn't feeling so great some of those days. Within just one day of eating healthy again, I feel better...I woke up ready to start the day, I'm thinking more clearly and my body almost feels like itself again. It is truly nice to know and be able to feel the difference that good food makes for the body! All the more motivation to make sure I put it in my mouth, instead of junk!
Don't forget my favorite kitchen appliance, the crockpot! Anytime you have to be out of the house, set it up before you go and have a piping hot homemade meal when you get home. It is the best invention since electricity came into the home.
ReplyDeleteI agree Arlene! I want to learn how to make more crockpot meals. Everytime I see a slow cooker recipe somewhere, I snatch it! My biggest problem is that I don't think about dinner until afternoon, so that doesn't leave me much time to work with to make dinner in the crockpot. I'm hoping that the more I use it, the more I'll think to put something in it in the morning! I bought a nice HUGE ONE last year, that turns itself to warm automatically when the cooking time is up!
ReplyDeleteMy deep freezer is one of my favorite appliances. I don't know what we would do without it. I freeze most of my garden produce in the summer and Joel puts all the deer we process in that freezer. It, by the way is huge!
ReplyDeleteI had the same problem, remembering the crock pot when it was too late. To help remedy that, I started preparing a weekly menu plan so that I can shop for the ingredients I need (saving money) and schedule meals according to my daily schedule. It has worked wonders for me. My kids like it too, because they know what day their favorite meal is gonna be on the table :-). I didn't think it would work for me, but I'm glad I tried it. It keeps me organized too, because I know the day before what I need to have on hand the next day.
ReplyDeleteI concur with Arlene's comment...a weekly meal schedule is invaluable to me. If you want to try it, perhaps plan to have the ingredients on hand for at least one crockpot meal so you can do that when the need arises. You are doing a great job getting your home, life, children, school and everything organized!
ReplyDeleteThank you my dear friend! I have found that it is a never ending task...adjustment always need to be made to match the ever changing needs of the family!
ReplyDeleteI am going to plan ingredients for at least one crockpot meal into my grocery list each week.
